On July 2, 2008 at 5.30 pm, a 53-year-old man named Jean-Michel was hit by a train in Saint-Lyé, eastern France. It was not known if it had been a suicide or an accident.
The director asks the inhabitants what they think of the tragedy. For them Jean-Michel had committed suicide, after accumulating anguish and problems; the more the voice-over asks, the more the questions multiply. But there is a detail in Jean-Michel’s life that connects him to Argentina: he had been an employee in a telephone company until a privatization put him out of work.
The film shows the similarities between the Argentina of the 90’s and those of France 20 years later.
