Santiago, spring of 1986. “La loca del frente” meets Carlos when he saves her from being arrested in the raid of a gay cabaret. She becomes deluded with this young, handsome “student”, who, despite not corresponding her feelings, keeps her hope alive.

Carlos asks to use her house to gather with friends, and later asks if she can store some boxes with forbidden books. She knows that the boxes don’t contain books – and he knows that she knows.

“La loca” plays dumb, deciding to close her eyes and dream of an impossible love rather than seeing the reality of how this will end.
