“Guitarra blanca” is, at the same time, the story of an unfinished documentary about Alfredo Zitarrosa and of its director Francisco “Papico” Cibils.

Cibils was a poet who lived in exile, a man who from the early 1980s walked around with a VHS camera on his shoulder, defying the anodyne record of domestic life for which these cameras were created. From March 1984 to February 1989, Papico recorded the most relevant artistic events of a Zitarrosa who was trying to re-integrate into Uruguayan society after his exile.

This record, a product of its time and the intuitive impulse of its director, is, among other things, a link in the collective construction of Uruguayan memory from the perspective of popular culture.
